Unit:   366 TFS Dates Served:   8/67-11/68 (?) Location:   Da Nang Airbase Comments:   Just wanted to post his name on this site for the reference of anyone who may have known him. Major Arnold was killed in a mid-air collision (military transport craft - active duty) over Drennan, Colorado in 1974. I still have audio recordings made from Vietnam and some surviving film footage of the Da Nang base (which is where the date range estimate above comes from). Was on the base during the Tet attacks. Awarded Bronze Star and DFC for service while in Vietnam. May he rest in peace.

Referred By:   Pete Millette Unit:   366th FMS Dates Served:   September 1966 to September 1967 Location:   DaNang AB, RVN Comments:   If in doubt...call an electrician...wizard extraordinaire on the USAF F4-C/D Phantom II models flown by the 389th; 390th Tactical Fighter Squadrons of the 366th TFW - US Navy F4J Phantom II also (not in any particular order) A3D USMC A6B-E Intruder USAF C-130/C-123B/K - US Army O1-E Bird Dog/USAF O-2A/O-2B Psy Warfare..in other words just about every fly'in machine to grace the ramp at DaNang in the late 1960's During my tour..we were attacked by Charlie so many times we lost count..we just "ducked" a lot. But we were able to put more Phantom "Mig Killers" in the air than any other forward tactical fighter base in RVN during that period...with impressive results.

MYSELF A SSGT AT THE TIME AND ANOTHER SSGT THAT ARRIVED SAME DAY AS ME,FRED JENKINS WAS ALSO SENT WITH ME. WE WERE LATER TRANSFERED TO TASK FORCE ALPHA, NKP THAILAND. LOOKING FOR ANYONE THAT MAY HAVE MET ME. ALSO LOOKING FOR ANYONE IN THE COMM FIELD THAT MAY REMEMBER THE CALL SIGN :BIG CONTROL" WHICH WAS OUR OPERATIONAL CALLSIGN IN HUE.
